Peter Staveley

Peter Staveley is a Greenwich based artist. He has a background in urban design and architectural drafting. He commenced painting to legitimise years of doodling in margins and telephone pads. He found it opened an enormous world of ideas and emotions to be explored.

Peter’s paintings are a product of inquiry into self-imposed visual ‘riddles’. He looks to create images which are ultimately pleasing to him, through light, contrast, composition or evocation.
Peter worked under the inspiring direction of Annette Pringle for a number of years.
He has undertaken private commissions. His works might be found in private and corporate collections.IMG_0771                                    IMG_0775-0

Introducing Nicola Hart

Hi, my name is Nicola Hart, the owner of Hart Studios.

I am originally from New Zealand, but have lived in Sydney for the last 25 years. I studied fine arts and graphic design at Christchurch University and Rhode Island School of Design, America.

Blue and White bowlAfter many years of working for advertising agencies and running my own graphic design business, I      took time out to have 3Celadon bowl children. I started to look around for other creative outlets, having always loved to paint and create. I took pottery classes, which became a big part of my life,  and began to paint again.

Deep blue bowlSmall bowl collection Everything about the process of working with clay fascinated me, using simple shapes, mostly hand built pinch pots and slab rolled shapes, in porcelain and earthenware. I also love to paint, on canvases and bowls. My inspiration comes from nature and the colours and shapes around me, which I interpret into hand-formed organic bowls or functional and decorative tableware.

All my pieces are unique and handmade, with a lot of time and love!

Nicola can be contacted on hartworks at bigpond.com.
